Founding: The Matanchen Bay Cultural Center was founded in February, 2011 by the Centro Cultural Bahia Matanchen, A.C., a Mexican nonprofit organization headquartered in Aticama, Municipality of San Blas, Nayarit, Mexico, working in collaboration with the Ejido of Aticama, the Municipality of San Blas, the State of Nayarit, and numerous members of our local community who have been very generous with their financial support and the volunteering of their time.

Inauguration: The building housing the Cultural Center was inaugurated on Wednesday, November 16, 2011. The Ejido of Aticama donated the land for the Cultural Center and the members of our localcommunity donated their money and volunteered their time to construct the building without any governmental financial assistance.

Mission Statement: The mission statement of the Centro Cultural Bahia Matanchen, A.C. is "to enhance the dignity and quality of life of individuals, families and communities by creating new opportunities and helping them reach their fullest potential through the power of education, knowledge,culture and fellowship". The Matanchen Bay Cultural Center seeks to carry out that mission by sponsoring and hosting various cultural events for our community such as the annual Day of the Dead (Dia de Muertos) celebration and various art expositions and other community events. However, in reality it is much more and serves as a community center that helps brings together the various diverse groups that comprise our local communities located around Matanchen Bay.
