PERMANENT EXHIBITIONS

The Aticama Museum of Archaeology and History houses permanent exhibits that preserve and display the extensive prehispanic artifacts that were produced by the indigenous civilizations that inhabited the Municipality of San Blas, Nayarit from 2100 B.C. until the arrival of the Spaniards in the 1500's. The exhibits highlight the archaeology of the Municipality of San Blas and have been divided into six archaeological “complexes” defined by sites that share similar types of artifacts that are different from types found at other sites. The 3,600 year sequence of prehispanic archaeological cultures found in the Municipality of San Blas is the longest archaeological sequence known on the coast of Nayarit, Jalisco and Colima.
